Progressing nicely

Things are moving at a swift pace as we pull all of the elements of Bookster together in time for a launch in Spring.

Core Booking Platform Updates

In order to support the functions we want to start Bookster with, we have needed to update our core booking platform to support a number of new features.

Some examples of this are:

  • Weekend Boost - Bookster can increase prices on Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Minimum nights stay - Bookster can block short stays and force say 7 night bookings.
  • Separation of Booking Fee - it costs Bookster to accept payments by credit card, so we need to pass that charge onto the user making the booking.

Payment Gateway

Bookster needs to be able to take payments! Credit card payments will need to be taken for:

  • deposits upon the booking of a property - deposits are then passed on to the Bookster user;
  • the monthly fee that we are asking for the use of Bookster.

We can now take payments for both of these purposes.

Rates Administrator

As I have mentioned before, Gerome has produced a fantastic rates adminstrator for Bookster users - we will look to improve it further before we launch but it is shaping up wonderfully.

Users will simply select the rate they want and then apply it to a date range.

New Bookster Admin Area

We have many login areas for users in our other products, but are going to use Bookster as our first step in designing a basic login area that can be used throughout our products - ambitious but hopefully a massive leap forward.

This has required some big technical leaps (which Colin has made with his usual ease) such as a unified user system, a new permissions structure and many other "under-the-hood" things that average users should not notice but make Bookster possible.
